Being beautiful on the inside...

"Being being on the inside is a choice to care about other people and to be loving when someone is in trouble or gets hurt and needs a friends. When we chose to do these, we are beautiful. Your beauty and warmth radiate so brightly from your heart to everyone you meet." - deRoy, Chicken Soup for the Soul

"The Rose"

Some say love it is a river
that drowns the tender reed.
Some say love it is a razor
that leaves your soul to bleed.
Some say love it is a hunger
an endless aching need.
I say love it is a flower
and you it's only seed.

It's the heart afraid of breaking
that never learns to dance.
It's the dream afraid of waking
that never takes the chance.
It's the one who won't be taken
who cannot seem to give
and the soul afraid of dyin'
that never learns to live.

When the night has been too lonely
and the road has been too long
and you think that love is only
for the lucky and the strong.
Just remember in the Winter
far beneath the bitter snows
lies the seed that with the sun's love
in the Spring becomes
The Rose.

Heaven's Grocery Store

I was walking down life's highway a long time ago. One day I saw a sign that read Heaven's Grocery Store. As I got a little closer the door came open wide.

I saw a host of angels they were standing everywhere. One handed me a basket and said, "My child, shop with care." Everthing a Christian needed was in that grocery store. And all you couldn't carry, you could come back the next day for more.

First, I got some Patience, Love was in the same row. Further down was Understanding, you need that everywhere you go. I got a box or two of Wisedom, a bag or two of faith. I just couldn't miss the Holy Ghost for it was all over the place.

I stopped to get some Strength and Courage to help me run this race. By then my basket was getting full, but I remembered I needed some Grace.

I didn't forget Salvation, for salvation that was free. So, I tried to get enough of that to save both you and me. Then I started up to the counter to pay my grocery bill. For I thought I had everything to do my Father's will.

As I went up the aisle, I saw Prayer and I just had to put that in. For I knew when I stepped outside, I would run right into sin. Peace and Joy were plentiful, they were on the last shelf. Song and Praises were hanging near so I just helped myself.

Then, I said to the Angel, "Now, how much do I owe?" He just smiled and said, "Just take them everywhere you go." Again I smiled at him and said, "How much now do I really owe?"

He smiled again and said, "My child, Jesus Paid Your Bill A Long Time Ago."

The human heart is all I need, for I have found God ever there Love is the one sufficient creed and comradship the purest prayer.

What I Live For

I live for those who love me, those who know me true;
For the heaven that smiles above me,
and awaits my spirit, too.
For the cause that lacks assistance,
for the wrong that needs resistance,
For the future in the distance and the good that I can do.
- George Linnaeus Banks

My Creed

I would be true, for there are those who trust me.
I would be pure, for there are those who care.
I would be strong, for there is much to suffer.
I would be brave, for there is much to dare.
I would be friend to all - the foe, the friendless.
I would be giving, and forget the gift.
I would be humble, for I know my weakness.
I would look up - and laugh - and love - and lift.
- Howard Arnold Walter

Nature's Child

Nature's Child,
Be kind to the birds, trees, water and land.
Be kind to the people around you.
Don't judge others, nor compare yourself with others.
Be understanding, patience, and caring.
Listen. Be fair. Be honest, and don't lie.
Be yourself. Don't pretend someone you're not.
For you are Nature's Child;
Child of the sky, water, and land.
Child of the moon and stars.
Child of the universe.
